In order to ensure increased stability and secure contacting with larger board-to-board distances, Fischer Elektronik offers their customers three newly developed male header series in sandwich design with 1.27 mm grid pattern. The new male headers, which have been developed and designed for reflow soldering, are available in six designs, each with two different heights. The distance from the PCB to the upper insulating body is 10.2 mm respectively 12.7 mm, depending on the design.
The articles with the part numbers SLV W 9 SMD 102 ... and SLV W 9 SMD 127 ... stand for the 1-row male header, the SLV W 10 SMD 102 ... and SLV W 10 SMD 127 ... for the 2-row in grid pattern 1.27 x 1.27 mm and the SLV W 11 SMD 102 ... and SLV W 11 SMD 127 ... for the 2-row in grid pattern 1.27 x 2.54 mm. The new SMD male headers are available with 1-36 contacts for the 1-row and with 4-72 poles for the 2-row. The new mentioned products will be officially available in September 2022. The male contacts with a pin cross-section of square 0.4 mm are made of a copper-zinc alloy (CuZn) and receive a gold-plated or tin-plated surface coating in our Fischer surface finishing, which is ideal for the specified soldering process.
In order to withstand temperatures of up to 260 °C during reflow soldering, the insulating body is made of a high-temperature resistant plastic which is classified according to flammability class UL 94 V-0. The plastic achieves its good mechanical and dimensionally stable properties by adding fillers. When designing and selecting the materials being used, Fischer Elektronik emphasizes great importance to manufacturing the products sustainably in accordance with EU Directive 2015/863/EU (RoHS) and the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH).
